B1/Machhapuchhare(6993m),1993 Photography by Osamu Uchida
photography date : December 29, 1993. Machhapuchhare means the fish tail with the local word. A local person believes in this mountain deeply. There is a thought of the goddess' crown, too, and climbing to the summit isn't forgiven. After 5 days camping in Annapurna Sanctuary, I came back down to Gandrung village. The lodge had a large garden, and there, I set my 6x7cm format camera, not a 4x5inches format camera because the unbelievable scene of Machhapuchhare was changing quickly. I was lucky to photographed a few positives in color and one negative in Black & White. I visited Gandrung once more 3 years later, but I could not see such a marvelous scene. It seems that it is a miracle that I who had a camera was there in that moment on December 29, 1993. Machhapuchhare (6993m) (22943feet) , in Annapurna Himar @ |
